What we collect

Trimly collects account details (email, name), the links you create, and click analytics (referrer, approximate country, device type, and browser) needed to power your dashboard. We do not sell your data.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and, on password-protected links, to remember that you've unlocked a page. If you add retargeting pixels (Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics) to your own links, those third-party scripts run on the redirect page you configure — you are responsible for disclosing that to your own visitors.

Your rights under PDPA

Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Contact us at hello@trimly.my to make a request.

Data retention

Click analytics are retained according to your plan's analytics window. Deleted links and domains are soft-deleted and excluded from your dashboard immediately.

Chrome extension

The Trimly browser extension shortens links from your browser. Here is exactly what it does with each permission it requests:

  • storage — saves your Trimly API key locally in chrome.storage.local on your device. It is never sent anywhere except as a bearer token to the Trimly API.
  • activeTab / tabs — reads the URL and title of the current tab only when you click "Shorten this page" or use the right-click menu. Nothing is read in the background.
  • scripting — copies the resulting short link to your clipboard after you create it.
  • contextMenus — adds the "Shorten with Trimly" right-click options.
  • notifications — shows a confirmation after a link is created from the right-click menu.
  • host permission (trimly.my) — lets the extension call the Trimly API to create and list your links.

The extension does not track your browsing history, does not collect analytics on its own, and does not share any data with third parties. Uninstalling it, or clicking "Disconnect", removes the locally stored API key immediately.
